Modified Matthiessen's rule: More scattering leads to less resistance

چکیده
We study the breaking of integrability by a finite density dilute impurities, specifically emerging diffusive transport. Provided distance between impurities (localized perturbations) is large, one would expect scattering rates to be additive, and therefore, resistivity proportional number (the so-called Matthiessen's rule). show that this is, in general, not case. If transport anomalous original integrable system without diffusion constant nonintegrable at low impurity has nontrivial power-law dependence on density, with power being determined dynamical scaling exponent also find regime high which, counterintuitively, adding more an already increases rather than decreases it.

In April 1981 Xerox introduced the Star 8010 workstation, the first commercial system with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and the first to use the “desktop” metaphor to organize a user’s interactions with the computer. Despite the perception of huge progress, from the perspective of design and usage models, there has been precious little progress in the intervening years. In the tradition of ...

Tiotropium; more knowledge leads to more questions This issue of the International Journal of COPD has 3 original research papers that study the effects of tiotropium. These papers are very different, addressing the effect of tiotropium on the small airways (Incorvaia et al 2008), the benefi t of additional tiotropium treatment during a pulmonary rehabilitation programme (Kesten et al 2008), an...
متن کاملMinimizing quinolone resistance: are the new agents more or less likely to cause resistance?
The introduction of oral antimicrobial agents with broad-spectrum activity extending to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other multiply antibiotic-resistant pathogens made the fluoroquinolones an attractive choice for empirical therapy for an extensive range of conditions. As a consequence there has been heavy and indiscriminate use of these agents ...

P hysicians deal with uncertainty all the time and chest pain in the emergency department (ED) is a typical example. Traditionally, coronary artery disease (CAD), pulmonary embolism (PE), and aortic dissection can present as chest pain, and the consequences of a missed diagnosis can be devastating, with the potential for rapid deterioration, and serious risk of morbidity and mortality. Moreover...
متن کاملMore for Less - Getting More Clients by Broadcasting Less Data
Broadcasting is scalable in terms of served users but not in terms of served data volume. Additionally, waiting time deadlines may be difficult to uphold due to the data clutter, forcing the clients to flee the system. This work proposes a way of selecting subsets of the original data that ensure near-optimal service ratio. The proposed technique relies on the novel data compatibility distance,...
